Our customers speak for us

What do the numbers mean on clipper blades?

Blades are numbered to indicate cut length, the length the hair will be after clipping. For example, a #10 blade will leave a hair length of 1/16″ (1.5mm). The higher the blade number, the shorter the cut will be. So a #15 blade will provide a shorter cut than a #4 blade for example.

What's the difference between

Clippers are used to cut lots of hair all over the body to one length. They have detachable blades and can cut a variety of lengths

Trimmers are smaller than clippers and are used to cut more delicate areas like face, feet and hygiene areas.

How often do blades need to be sharpened?

Dull blades result in the blade pulling and less efficient clipping. How often you need to sharpen your blade is determined by how often you use our blade and how you use it. For groomers we typically recommend sharpening every 8-12 weeks however this will vary depending on how many dogs you are clipping and the condition of the coat
